Blake Lively has landed the role of Carol Ferris in the new “Green Lantern” movie.
She will play opposite Ryan Reynolds in this movie. Carol Ferris is the daughter of the owner of an aerospace company who hires Hal Jordan (Green Lantern: Ryan Reynolds) to test pilot new experimental planes.
On one test flight an accident happens and an alien bestows the “Green Lantern” power ring to Hal Jordan. Basically he becomes a intergalactic cop that fights his arch nemesis “Sinestro”.
The role of “Sinestro” has not been filled as of yet but the studio will now be focusing on that now that they have the lead roles filled.
Evidently Jennifer Garner and Keri Russell were two other actresses that got beat out for the role by Blake Lively. Jennifer Garner played the character “Electra” in the movies “Daredevil” and “Electra”.
Picking Blake Lively for the role is a pretty good choice but did they seriously pick her over Jennifer Garner? In my opinion Jennifer Garner would have made a better choice but time will tell on Blake’s acting ability to carry a major role such as this.
The movie is to open in June, 2011. Sounds like a long way off don’t it? Personally I just want them to get it right and make it worth seeing.
For some reason movies based on DC Comics characters have not been as good as the Marvel Universe characters in my humble opinion (besides Batman and Superman).
